Ilia Beauty stands out from other makeup brands by including active skincare ingredients that shield your skin from environmental stressors and sun damage throughout the day. In the Ilia Beauty Reviews, I’ll provide you with an honest and thorough evaluation of every Ilia product I’ve tested.
Ilia, established in 2011 by Sasha Plavsic, was born out of her desire to create a lip balm using only “clean ingredients.” Since then, this brand has blossomed into a renowned name in the world of clean beauty. Their product range proudly boasts being vegan, cruelty-free, and gluten-free and the store is considered as one of the best Shopify makeup stores.
Pros of Ilia
- Their products have a comparable quality to traditional cosmetics.
- They feature a diverse range of ages to showcase their products.
- They have a recycling program where you can send back 10 empty beauty products per month, regardless of whether they are Ilia’s brand or another. Pact Collective will responsibly dispose of them to prevent them from ending up in landfills.
- They offer refunds for gently used products within 60 days, which is quite impressive.
- They have 7 certified gluten-free products, and while the rest do not contain gluten, they cannot make that claim due to the manufacturing process. You can find more information about the 7 certified gluten-free products on their website.
- They are Leaping Bunny Certified, meaning none of their products are tested on animals.
Cons of Ilia
- They do not conduct heavy metal testing.
- Some of their ingredients, such as artificial dyes and phenoxyethanol, may raise concerns.

ILIA Beauty Reviews
Ilia True Skin Radiant Priming Serum
The Ilia True Skin Radiant Priming Serum does not provide a radiant effect. It may appear radiant when dispensed from the bottle, but once it dries, it lacks radiance.
I am not a regular user of primers, but if I do use one, I prefer a primer that adds hydration to my skin. Unfortunately, the Ilia Priming Serum does not provide enough hydration or radiance.
I would recommend this primer only for those with combination or oily skin. If you choose to use it, it works better when paired with the Ilia Serum Foundation. However, I would not recommend using this primer with the Ilia Skin Tint.
Since my skin is becoming drier and more dehydrated due to retinol use, I prefer to prime my entire face with a good sunscreen. Most of the time, I opt for the Glow Screen from Supergoop. I prefer the Glow Screen over this primer because it offers sun protection, hydration, and a radiant glow.
Ilia Color Haze Multi-Use Pigment
I tried out the Ilia Color Haze Multi-Use Pigment and found that it comes in 5 beautiful shades that can be used on both lips and cheeks. The pigment has a thick consistency when squeezed from the tube, but don’t let that discourage you! I found that applying it directly to my lips or cheeks didn’t work well, so I opted to warm it up on the back of my hand first. Once thinned out, it went on smoothly and gave my cheeks a weightless, natural-looking flush.
Ilia True Skin Serum Foundation
The Ilia True Skin Serum Foundation is a fantastic choice for those seeking a medium-coverage foundation with a natural finish. With 30 shades to choose from, you’re sure to find the perfect match for your skin tone. Personally, I prefer this foundation over the Skin Tint as it offers more coverage that can be built up to a medium level. If you’re on the hunt for a clean foundation from Ilia, this is definitely the one to try.
ILIA Color Block High Impact Lipstick
ILIA’s Color Block High Impact Lipstick offers a range of 15 shades, but my personal favorite is Cinnabar. It gives a vibrant pop of color without being too overwhelming, and it even has a subtle sparkle when it catches the sunlight. After applying it to my lips and letting it sit for a few minutes, I took a sip from my water bottle like I usually do.
One thing I noticed is that they’ve taken out the sweet scent that was present in the original version. However, in terms of opacity and texture, these lipsticks are just as creamy and pigmented as the original. The main difference is their staying power. Shades like Flame, Tango, Knockout, Rumba, and Ultra Violet have a surprisingly strong, deep pink undertone that leaves a stain and will last throughout the day. You can trust that your lips will stay covered all day long, and maybe even until you’re ready to remove your makeup at the end of the day.
Ilia True Skin Serum Concealer
I had a bit of a rough time with the Ilia True Skin Serum Concealer. To start off, I made the mistake of choosing the wrong shade. I went with Suma, thinking it would be a light color with cool undertones. Buying makeup online can be tricky since you can’t actually try it on beforehand. I can’t really blame Ilia for my color mishap. But honestly, I’m not even going to bother trying another shade because I just didn’t like this concealer. The coverage was somewhere in between light and medium, but what really bothered me was how drying it was.
Now, don’t get me wrong, this concealer does have a lot of positive reviews. It might work better for people with combination or oily skin types. But if you have drier or aging skin like me, I would definitely steer clear of the Ilia Serum Concealer.
ILIA’s products may be on the pricier side, but they definitely deliver in terms of quality. What sets them apart from their competitors is their skincare-first approach to beauty, along with their dedication to sustainability and use of natural, nourishing ingredients.
